GREEN HEALTHCARE SOLUTIONS, STORY OF AN INTUITION
Insect screens for high tech greenhouses

Until a few years ago, they were called "protective nets". Now they are "green healthcare solutions", the green solutions for human health, plants and the environment. This evolution bears the signature of Paolo Arrigoni, CEO of the group Arrigoni spa, European leader in hi-tech textile applications for agriculture.

"The intuition comes from my experience - explains Arrigoni to Italiafruit News - I am the son of a weaver and a pharmacist, I have a humanistic education and I love nature. In short, from the beginning I had to do with health, nature and ... looms! ".

LESS PESTICIDES, BETTER CROPPING FOR HEALTHIER CROPS AND PEOPLE - GREEN HEALTHCARE
Insect screens for high tech greenhouses

Plant growth and development is complex process, influenced by different biotic and abiotic factors. If we exclude the genetic basis of the plant, we can say that state of plants, yield and quality of crops is highly influenced by plant environment.

Plant health management is practice of understanding and overcoming the factors that limit plants from achieving their full genetic potential. Today, science and agricultural practice go so far away, that we can control great number of factors which can affect plant development and cropping.

VITICULTURE: PROTECTION FROM EXCESSIVE RAIN
video protezione dei frutteti dalla pioggia

Many of the most common fruit crops suffer the negative effect of excessive rains: especially the development of fungal diseases. Among these crops, the vine is one of the most sensitive to the negative conditions caused by the rains. Oidium, downy mildew, fruit rot and many other diseases thrive in conditions of excessive humidity.

Improved air movement under the Biorete Air Plus line of screens provide significant benefits, such as…

THE WORTH OF A BARRIER
Pesticide drift in agriculture

THE WORTH OF A BARRIER: A title that smacks of paradox if we think about economic issues and increasingly open and globalized markets. A theme of very topical relevance, however, if linked to recent and dramatic humanitarian issues.

In the agricultural sector, "barriers" have often been avoided or torn down in order to facilitate work. Instead they could represent a value, an opportunity, and we will try to understand to what extent.

INVASIVE PESTS: PROTECT CROPS BY OFFERING PLANTS A GREATER PASSAGE OF AIR

Harmful insects that come from countries far away from ours thanks to the increased global freight exchanges; aggressive pests, resistant to common pest management tools, which carry the threat of viruses for which we still do not know about effective cure; the tropicalization of our climate that accentuates the development opportunities of these unwanted guests and amplifies their damaging effects.

Here are the challenges that our farmers face today to ensure the safety of the food that reaches our tables every day.

HIGH TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTS ORGANIC AGRICULTURE
Application of insect-proof screens, we produce also shading nets, windbreaks, etc.

The organic sector is growing, as shown by the data supplied by SINAB (Sistema d'Informazione Nazionale sull'Agricoltura Biologica). From the last annual report, it is clear how the Italian organic sector has skyrocketed with a trend growing constantly both in Italy and abroad.

The sector's dynamism is most interesting: from being a slightly naive form of return to tradition, organic cultivation now employs the most advanced technologies for safe productions of the highest quality that are sustainable.

SHADING OF CROPS: STANDARD SHADING NET OR THERMO-REFLECTIVE SCREENS?
rete ombreggiante vs schermi termo-riflettenti con effetto diffusione della luce

In the past, plants which are more sensitive to the sun’s rays were grown under trees or under trellises, but with no possibilities to obtain optimal standard shading for the requirements of each species grown. The most widely used system today for reducing the intensity of the sun rays is that of covering the plants with shade netting which reduces the incident light with differents shading power. However, a standard shading net may not be the most effective solution.

ARRIGONI SOLUTION: THERMO-REFLECTIVE SCREENS PRISMA

As a result of the research carried out in the Arrigoni R&D Department, thermo-reflective screens PRISMA are the shading net evolution because, through irradiation control, they reduce temperature. Moreover in their monofilament chemical composition there is an additive that increases the diffusion of light. The LD (Light diffusion) additive does not change the life cycle of the net and its diffusive power does not diminish over time. In addition, shading power is guaranteed.
